We do our best to keep our membership process simple.
In order to become a member of Salem Community Baptist Church, four things have to happen. You must:
1. Receive the recommendation of the Pastor. This recommendation will follow a consultation with the Pastor. During this consultation, the Pastor will ask you some questions about what you believe and why you want to be a member of this church. Don't worry, there won't be any trick questions.
2. Be baptized. As a Baptist church, we prioritize what's known as "believer's baptism." In short, believer's baptism occurs after a profession of faith (as opposed to some traditions, when baptism occurs in infancy). If you haven't been baptized as a believer, the opportunity will be extended to you during this process!
3. Subscribe to the Articles of Faith and Bylaws. You can find the Articles of Faith here, and the Bylaws here. If you don't understand it all, that's okay. We'll work through it together.
4. Be received by a majority vote of the church. This vote will take place during a scheduled business meeting and is the final step towards becoming an official member of Salem Community Baptist Church!
