The gospel is the good news of what god has done in jesus christ
The word gospel literally means "Good News" - and that's exactly what the gospel is: the best news of all time! The Bible explains this good news like this: We were dead in our sin, but God - "being rich in mercy" - loved us so much that he gave his only Son to die for us, that by His grace, through our faith, we could be saved from sin and death and brought to a new and eternal life with Him (Ephesians 2:1-9; John 3:16 ESV).
